NT&DL Youths Cup Final
Nenagh AFC were victorious over Ballymackey in the Youths Cup Final played in Ballinree last Friday evening. Darragh Duke gave the Brickfields outfit the lead with a superb right footed curler to the top corner. Tommy Teer was a threat for Ballymackey throughout and was unlucky not to peg it back level with efforts either side of half time, however Cillian Fitzpatrick in the Nenagh goals was in fine form to keep a clean sheet. Jordan Lewis made it safe with a headed goal twenty minutes from time to make it a League & Cup double for the Nenagh AFC Youths. Gerry Larkin representing the NT&DL presented the Cup to Nenagh AFC Captain Paul Dwan after the game.
Ricky Fogarty Cup
Nenagh Celtic and BT Harps clashed in this last four Premier Division Cup tie played at Nenagh VEC on Sunday morning with the home team securing safe passage to the decider on a two nil score line. The sides were scoreless at the break, however Michael Ryan edged the Hoops ahead with a volleyed effort and then Stephen Flynn added a second to leave no way back for the Templemore outfit on this occasion.
Lough Derg pushed Nenagh AFC all the way in this Ricky Fogarty Cup semi-final at the Clarisford Park venue last Sunday before losing out on a narrow one nil scoreline. Nenagh AFC bagged the all-important goal in the 83rd minute when Mark McKenna converted from the spot after Arthur Mitchell was fouled in the box.
Fast Food Cup
Gurtagarry sailed in to the Third Division Cup Final with a comprehensive five nil win over Sallypark ‘B’ last Sunday, Billy Corcoran opened the scoring in the 8th minute and added his second of the outing eleven minutes before the break to leave the hosts in control at the half time whistle. An in form Billy Corcoran was in the thick of the action again the second period giving Gurtagarry a three nil lead on 49 minutes and then Billy Corcoran stretched it to four nil midway through the half with a well taken goal. Paddy O’Rourke clinched the win for the home team eight minutes later with a fine finish following good approach play.
Cloughjordan ‘B’ prevailed over Lough Derg ‘B’ on a 4-1 score line to progress to the Fast Food Cup Final last Sunday at the Clarisford Park venue, Dean O’Meara pounced for a brace while Andy Brennan and Niall Farrell were also on the score sheet for the winners, Nathan Wood netted the lone reply for the Lakers
Second Division League
Streamstown emerged victorious by the odd goal in three over BT Harps ‘B’ in this end of season league fixture played last Wednesday evening, Jason Ryan and Craig Phelan were the Streamstown marksmen while James Kavanagh replied for BT Harps.
FAI Youths Cup Final
Best of luck to Nenagh AFC against Evergreen FC (Kilkenny) in the FAI Youths Cup Final which takes place on Monday 5th May at 3:00PM in the Prince Grounds, Castlecomer.
