Ricky Fogarty Cup
Nenagh Celtic ‘A’ welcomed Thurles Town to Nenagh VEC for this Cup tie and romped to a 4-1 win over and understrength visiting side. The Hoops led one nil at the break after Mikey Hynes finished midway through the half. A luckless Thurles outfit conceded an own goal to give the home team a two nil advantage. Tom Tierney pulled a goal back for Thurles with twenty minutes remaining, however Nenagh Celtic turned in a strong finish as Enrico Casey restored Celtic’s advantage before Mikey Hynes netted his second of the day just before the full time whistle to send Nenagh Celtic through to the last four.
Lough Derg ‘A’ and Sallypark ‘A’ clashed in this Quarter final game played in Clarisford Park on Sunday morning with the Ballina / Killaloe side claiming the win on a 3-1 scoreline. Lough Derg led one nil at the break after Jason Comley scored with a forty yard effort. The home team stretched it to two nil early in the second half after a good move involving Mates Veselka and Jamie Stuart saw the latter score with a fine finish. Sallypark worked their way back in to the game and brought it back to the minimum midway through the half when Ciaran Ryan’s effort finished in the net. Lough Derg picked it up again after this and restored their lead when a Mates Veselka assist set up Jason Comley who scored his second of the day to Lough Derg’s place in the semi-finals.
Barry Cup
Roscrea United ‘A’ had too much firepower for Nenagh Celtic ‘B’ in this semi-final game played in Kennedy Park on a six goals to nil scoreline. Roscrea enjoyed a three nil lead at the break with goals from Robbie Ryan, John Pio Fitzpatrick and Eoin Shanahan. It was more of the same in the second half as Eoin Shanahan bagged two more to complete his hat-trick while John Cordial also got in on the action with a well taken goal.
Nora Kennedy Cup
Nenagh AFC ‘C’ qualified for the Second Division Cup Final by virtue of a narrow 2-1 win over BT Harps ‘B’ at the Nenagh venue. The sides were locked on a one all score line after Mikey Duff scored for Nenagh while Paul Touhy replied for the away side, however Conor Kirwan bagged the all-important winner for the Blues to secure passage to the Final.
Fast Food Cup
Cloughjordan ‘B’ came through a penalty shootout against Roscrea ‘B’ to make it through to the last four in this Cup tie played in Cloughjordan. The sides were level on a one all scoreline at the end of normal time, PJ O’Brien scored for Cloughjordan while the Roscrea response came from Stephen Murphy. Both sides traded goals in the extra time with Dean O’Meara on target for Cloughjordan while Stephen Murphy scoring his second of the day for the visitors to take the game to a penalty shootout where Cloughjordan progressed on a 5-4 score line.
Premier Division League
Rearcross ‘A’ recorded a slender one nil home victory over Moneygall on Friday night. The only goal of the tie came in the 21st minute when Robert Harrington’s in swinging corner kick went all the way to the net. Moneygall piled on the pressure near the end, but the hosts held firm to secure the points.
Nenagh AFC were two nil winners over BT Harps in Templemore. Nathan Kelly set the league leaders on their way with a twenty yard shot on the stroke of half time. Ryan Gilmartin made sure of the win with a back post header from a Paul Kelly delivery to leave Nenagh AFC with a ten point gap at the top of the table.
First Division League
Ardcroney won out by the odd goal in seven over Kilcommon at the away venue last Sunday. Ardcroney led two nil at the break thanks to goals from Philip Blackwell and Jamie Gaynor. The hosts fought their way back in to the game and led 3-2 with ten minutes to play after Eamonn Naughton netted a brace while Tom Keane was also on the scoresheet. However the game turned in favour of the visiting side when Pat McLoughney converted twice from the spot to secure maximum points for Ardcroney.
Second Division League
Holycross ‘A’ and Ballymackey played out a scoreless draw in Glenbane on Sunday morning, both sets of defences dominated throughout to leave it stalemate at the final whistle.
Third Division League
Borrisokane ‘B’ were at home to Noreside Celtic on Sunday afternoon and snatched a slender one nil victory over the visiting side. It looked as if the tie was going to finish scoreless, however Noreside conceded a penalty with two minutes to go, Marc Rahmoune stepped up to convert with aplomb to clinch the win for Borrisokane.
Sallypark ‘B’ and Clodiagh Rangers ‘C’ shared the spoils on a one all scoreline in this league fixture played in Sallypark. The home team had taken a one nil lead courtesy of a Jack O’Donnell goal, however David Considine pegged it back for the Drombane side to leave it all square at the full time whistle.
Gurtagarry and Lough Derg ‘B’ met in this league fixture played on St Patrick’s Day with Lough Derg claiming full points on a 3-1 score line. Keith Stritch opening the scoring on 57 minutes, however Dinny Corcoran brought Gurtagarry back on par. The visitors produced a strong finish as Keith Conway pounced for a quick fire brace on 83and 86 minutes respectively to seal the win for Lough Derg.
NT&DL Tipperary Cup
Last season’s finalists Nenagh AFC ‘B’ came from behind to secure a 3-1 win over Clonmore in Nenagh last Sunday afternoon to book their place in the last eight of the Tipperary Cup. Clonmore made the perfect start after Tommy Fahy rattled the net with just a minute gone. Nenagh equalized just before half time through Birinder Singh. The Brickfields side scored two late goals through Trevor Morrissey and Tommy Martin who converted from the spot.
Youths Cup
Ballymackey Youths knocked BT Harps Youths out of the Youths Cup on a narrow 2-1 scoreline in this semi-final fixture played at Ballinree on Saturday. The home team took the lead in the 40th minute when Denis Haverty scored from a corner kick. The Templemore outfit got it back level when Dylan Loughnane scored from the spot on the 65 minute mark. A tight finish ensued, however Gearoid Murphy bagged the all-important goal five minutes from time after tapping home from close range to send Ballymackey through to the decider.
Youths League
Nenagh AFC Youths had too much strength in depth for Ardcroney in the Youths league last Saturday, Cian Darcy, Alan Sheehan and Ryan Gilmartin all netted a brace a piece while Patrick O’Sullivan and Craig Hilmi were also on the scoresheet.
