NT&DL debutants Roscrea United have made an impressive start and are within striking distance of First Division and Third Division League titles in their maiden campaign. Paul Kirwan has netted 37 goals but missed the Kilcommon game last weekend with a hamstring injury and is rated doubtful for Sunday’s clash. David McNamara with 35 goals to his credit has immigrated to Scotland and will surely be a loss to the Kennedy Park Club. Borroway Rovers on the other hand have shown mixed form this season but will be buoyed from their away league fixture in Roscrea earlier in the season after losing out on a narrow 2-1 score line conceding the losing goal with just a minute to play. Damien Grimes has rattled the net sixteen times season to date for Borroway Rovers and will need to strike form if the Thurles Club are to be in the shake-up at the full time whistle on Sunday evening. Central midfielder Vincent Loughnane will also be a key player for the Loughtagalla side and will need to dictate matters in the midfield sector. Robbie Ryan is also having a fine season for Roscrea Utd with a tally of seventeen goals to date but is carrying a shin injury although is expected to start on Sunday. Indeed, Roscrea United have strength in depth all over the field including former underage International David Nash at right back who poses a threat going forward and the signs at one level might be ominous for Borroway Rovers who have their own fitness concerns with Patrick Gleeson and William Carroll who both need to overcome niggling injuries. Nevertheless, management team of Paul Gould and Wayne Keane will not be too perturbed by Roscrea’s form this season and will have their team well prepared for the occasion with home town advantage also in their favour, however Roscrea United might just have too much swagger on this occasion, all in all a great game is in prospect. The game kicks off at 2:00PM, Jim McGrath is in charge of affairs with assistance from Alec McCormack and Tommy Lynch.

Barry Cup Final – Roll of Honour (last 8 seasons)
Season Winners Runners Up
2012/2013 Nenagh AFC ‘B’ Rearcross
2011/2012 Clodiagh Rangers ‘A’ Bridge United
2010/2011 Borrisokane Nenagh AFC ‘B’
2009/2010 Clonmore Nenagh AFC ‘B’
2008/2009 Nenagh AFC ‘B’ Borrisoleigh
2007/2008 Borrisoleigh Templetuohy ‘A’
2006/2007 Templetuohy Rearcross ‘B’
2005/2006 Thurles Town Sallypark ‘A’

Thurles Greyhound Stadium will play host to an eagerly awaiting Barry Cup Final between Borroway Rovers and Roscrea United ‘A’ next Sunday afternoon.
